BYU Ballroom Donation Information

Welcome
Thank you for your interest in donating to the
BYU Ballroom Dance Company.

Thank you for your interest in donating to the BYU Ballroom Dance program. We receive limited funding from the university so every donation, large or small, helps provide meaningful opportunities for our students that otherwise would not be realized.

This unique program affords students unparalleled experiences to develop their ballroom dance technical and performance skills while pursuing their academic degrees. This combination results in amazing growth moments for students as they unite together as a performing company and represent the university abroad. These experiences are life changing and contribute to the ultimate aims of a BYU education. Donations to the Ballroom Dance Company are used in the following areas:

Option 1: Tuition Scholarship

Full-tuition $6,500.00 ($3,250.00 per semester)

Half tuition $3,250.00 ($1,625.00 per semester)

The tuition amounts normally increase by a few percent each year, so this annual donation would rise each year by the amount of the increase.

Option 2: Tour Scholarship Increments of $1000

Each summer the students participate in an extended performance tour with the Ballroom Dance Company. The student portion of touring fees can be substantial, this type of scholarship eases that burden for the student.

Option 3: Inspired Learning Scholarship Increments from $1,000.00 – $10,000.00

These donations contribute to other critical aspects of the Ballroom Dance Company with the amount being decided by the donor. To be used for:

-         Technical training and choreographic development: Costs associated with inviting world-class ballroom dance professionals to BYU to work with our students and company.

-         Presentation: Costs associated with the design, materials, and construction of our ballroom dance company costumes. This area is always the last to be funded but is among the most crucial. This gift is received by one student as a representative for the entire company.

Presentation: These scholarships are presented annually at the U.S. National Amateur Dancesport Championships held in the Marriott Center in the month of March. We invite our donors to personally present the scholarship at the competition and meet the students at a brief reception after the event on Friday evening. Unless otherwise directed we will name the scholarship after the donor.

Submission of donation: Patrons may submit their donation online or with a personal check. If you are interested in creating an endowment that will generate your donation each year, I can provide you with information on how to set this up.

Sincere gratitude: As a former member of the Ballroom Dance Company, I am a devout advocate for the many benefits of this program. It has been my pleasure to see countless students come through this program. I have witnessed their individual growth in multiple areas. In addition to the opportunities to develop their talents and experience the joy of performance, the Ballroom Dance Program also gives the students a place to belong and develop meaningful relationships during very crucial formative years. For these, and many more reasons, we are incredibly grateful for your consideration to become a BYU Ballroom Dance donor. While we do accept “one-time” donations most of our donors commit to annual giving. As a regular donor we would place you on our “friends of BYU Ballroom Dance” list and keep you informed of our events and offer complimentary tickets for you to choose from.

Hopefully this information gives you more insight into our program and some of our needs. I look forward to our continued communication.

Again, sincere gratitude for your consideration!
